Stability

Four-wheel buggies, which have their center of gravity being balanced by your child's weight within the seat are generally more stable than three-wheelers. However, that doesn't mean an older model with three wheels isn't worth considering, since many of these models are made to cope with everything from rough terrain to busy high streets.

For a buggy that's easy to maneuver and will not let you down on bumpy pavements, look for a model with large rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. Having a single front wheel may also mean that three-wheelers tend to be more bulkier than buggies with four wheels when folded. Be sure that the model you choose can fit in the boot of your car and can be placed in a straight line if needed. Some models can be folded with just one hand and stand on their own when they're collapsed, which can make them more compact in smaller car boots.

A good 3 wheel pushchair will be able to deal with most terrain from busy main streets to tracks through woodlands. It's important to think about how you will use it every day. If you'll be doing the school run using it, it must be able handle the kerbs and steep slopes. If you'll be jogging 3 wheel stroller with it, ensure it has an adjustable lockable swivelling'stretch' for the front wheel to ensure that the ride is safe.

MFM reviewer Kath found her tri-wheeled buggy to be able to perform well with rural and urban walks.
