The iRobot App lets you review images taken by the Combo j7+ to determine which areas it should not enter (such as lamp cords). You can also modify the map by drawing specific zones that the robot must stay away from.

Vacuuming

The Combo Essential has a powerful 4-Stage Cleaning System that vacuums and mop in one pass and grabs dirt from hard-to reach places such as under the couch. It uses intelligent navigation to clean from wall to wall and to prevent falling on the stairs. Sensors assist in navigating between furniture. Clean Base Auto-Fill Docks empty debris for up 60 days, and refills the liquid for autonomous cleaning. It's also compatible with more cleaning products than any other 2-in-1.

The Roomba combo is a capable mops, but it is lacking some of the more sophisticated features that make Roomba J7+ a top sweeper. When it detects a wet surface it switches from sweeping mode to mopping mode. A small Robot Vacuum Mops arm raises the water tank and dustbin combination and a new pad is inserted into the cleaner when you press the button.

It was able to navigate smoothly even when the route was not entirely clear. It's not the best at avoiding obstacles but it's quick to recognize and avoid larger objects like socks and toys.

The app allows you to alter your schedule. You can design an exact cleaning path, and create Keep Out Zones (or Clean Zones) that guide the robot in the proper direction. It also displays the actions it has taken and its health status. It can also be paired with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant enabled devices to provide voice control. Intelligent platform from iRobot continuously updates Combo’s software, adding new capabilities and features.

Mopping

Roomba Combo j7+ robot vacuum and mop provides you with a thorough hands-free cleaning experience with its innovative 2-in-1 capabilities. The iRobot Roomba vacuums and mops on your schedule. It can do this when you want, at any time you like, without any manual intervention. Just press the button on your iRobot Home App or say "Hey Google," "Hey Alexa" or "Ok Google" to start cleaning.

It makes use of Imprint Smart Mapping to learn your floorplan, and allows you to instruct it to clean the rooms you want, at any time you'd like. You can also tell your robot what areas to clean or avoid using the customizable Keep Out Zones. iRobot OS automatically updates, so that your robot is always up-to current and ready for any new task.

The Clean Base auto-empties debris and replenishes the tank for 30 days of hands-free clean, and it's compatible with most suitable cleaning solutions.

Object Detection

iRobot combination robots automatically detect and avoid objects like stairs, sofas, tables chairs and laundry hampers, pet toys and other household clutter. They also use sensors to identify carpets and rugs. Then, they alter their cleaning settings according to the recognition, helping to prevent wet mess. They have an automatic sensor that informs them when to stop cleaning and clean and resurface.

With Smart Mapping, Roomba maps your home 7x faster, identifies rooms to start targeted cleaning earlier and can be customized to keep Out Zones and Clean Zones. You can control your robot using voice commands or use the app in conjunction with Alexa Siri or Google Assistant.

Roomba is able to detect and avoid more than 80 common objects, such as power cords, shoes backpacks, socks, pets' toys toilet bowls, kitty litter boxes, and other floor dangers. In addition with Precision Vision Navigation, your iRobot Combo j7+ identifies and eschews solid pet waste.

With iRobot OS you can see the history of cleaning your robot including maps and image data. You can choose the Dirt Detective option to prioritize cleaning the most soiled areas first. You can also look up an estimated timeframe to determine how long the robot will stay in your home. Also, iRobot OS makes thoughtful suggestions, like extra cleaning schedules during pet shed season and is that are sent directly to your mobile device. You must be comfortable giving up personal details to any smart home device which manages and stores the data of your space. In our tests, we've questioned each company whose products we examine about security measures for this sensitive information. iRobot says that it doesn't sell customer information and has laid out its Privacy Principles on its website.

Navigation

The Roomba Combo uses Imprint Smart Mapping technology to learn and map your floorplan and re-maps it as needed. Once a room is marked you can set your cleaning preferences for that specific space using the iRobot Home App and it will then automatically clean that space during future missions. Roomba offers Dirt Detective which automatically prioritizes your most soiled areas for most frequent vacuuming or mopping. PrecisionVision Navigation allows it to stay clear of objects like charging cables shoes, socks and cables. This is an excellent feature that can save you time when you're trying to get a certain task accomplished.

Battery Life

The Combo J7+ is powered by a powerful lithium-ion battery with plenty of capacities for cleaning your home. Its dust bin and water tank can hold 400 and 200 ml respectively, and the robot features a high-efficiency filtration system that captures dirt particles and keep them from resurfacing on your flooring. It is compatible with the iRobot application and voice assistants so you can control it from your smartphone or other devices.

Another feature that is great is its ability to take pictures of objects, which helps the Combo j7+ to avoid those objects in future cleaning runs. iRobot however, opted not to include automatic mop pad cleaning. This is something that we've seen in the past with top robotic cleaners. This is a minor issue however it would have been nice to have this feature on the Combo j7+. In addition the Combo J7+ is a breeze to use and has an excellent warranty policy.
