Its battery is a little smaller than some of the other models we've tested but it's still got plenty of juice for the majority of homes.

The Neato Q5 Pro is a multi-purpose robot vacuum that excels at bare floors and cleans up a good amount of dirt on both high and low-pile carpet. It is well-built and has many navigational features. It's also simple to maintain. However, it has a lower maximum battery life than some other models and is subject to higher cost-per-use.

The Q5 is among the slowest robots we've tested, however, its layout algorithm is reliable and doesn't need any additional attention after its first pass through the space. It begins by tracing out a perimeter, then fills in the interior with an array of parallel lines. When it's done, it returns to its charging station or the base from which it left the base.

It did an excellent job of cleaning hardwood floors and removing at least 88% dirt from each test. It was a bit less successful on low and high carpet however, it was better than the average unit. It also comes with mopping attachments for dealing with wet spills, though we didn't test this feature.

Its maneuverability, which is above the norm for lidar robots is that it can hit furniture or other obstacles by a soft bump.
